What Kind Of Jobs Can You Get With A Military History, And Bachelor’s Degree In Political Science And Business?

My boyfriend is a leuitenant in the National Guard, he’s been with them for 9 years. He also has a bachelor’s in political science and business. He wants a job that he can make a difference, but doesn’t want to make policies. He needs to get started and end his job as a mall cop. He would love to do city management. How can he get started? What kind of jobs can get him visible for local government positions?

I saw your header question about what jobs you can get with those degrees and was just going to type “Second Lieutenant. Two points!” but to find out he is already in has stolen my thunder. DB sounds like he’s tracking… the only thing I was going to suggest was possibly something in teaching, like HS level citizenship or US History. It’s certain our kids don’t need more punk liberals telling them that the Army is bad and scary as they grow up.

Your boyfriend is a college graduate and a LIEUTENANT in the National Guard. Why doesn’t he apply to a law enforcement agency?
I have a city job. Usually, a good way to get your foot in the door of City Management is to take any position within the city, even one below your qualifications. After a few month of being in the system, a city employee can apply for higher positions.
Your boyfriend can accept a city job that doesn’t require a degree, then apply for higher positions as they become available.
Getting a city job takes time to process. He needs to apply to more than one town.
