Criminology Versus Political Science. Which One Do I Go Into (undergrad) If I Want To Go To Law School?

I want to go to law school. I can’t decide between an undergraduate degree in Criminology or Political Science.
For criminology, it says this on the website:
Please note: Criminology is not a pre-law preparatory program.
So does it mean I can’t take criminology if I want to go to law school?
What about political science?
In your opinion, which one is easier?

Either one. It doesn’t matter. Choose a major that you like. I’ve seen majors like History, English, and Philosophy become lawyers. As long as you do well on the LSAT and have a good GPA… that’s all that really matters. Best of luck to you!!!

Political science will give you a better base – it along with philosophy, speech, general business, and economics are common suggestions. Criminal justice and related seems to be the fringe “easy way out” for many, but if it says it is not preparatory for law school, then you already have your answer in front of you. If you take the “easy” route, you may not have the admission criteria you need. Most schools want to see well-round, interdisciplinary based students with diverse experience and critical thinking skills. CJ is also more career oriented than some subjects (i.e. practical skills, less theory). My advice? Find a degree you actually LIKE as a fallback – not everyone is cut out for law school nor finds that by junior/senior year they still want to go.
